ACCESS ADA HAYDEN
The Outdoor Alliance partnered with the Access Ada Hayden group which includes the Skunk River Paddlers, a local paddling group, as well as others. This project will allow more people the opportunity to safely launch paddle craft and enjoy being on the water.
The Outdoor Alliance jointly submitted a successful grant proposal with its partners to the Story County Community Foundation, raising $6,000. Additional grants raised another $1,000 from Walmart and Sam Club. These funds will help cover the estimated $85,000 cost of purchasing and installing an accessible boat dock at Ada Hayden.
The Outdoor Alliance also worked with Access Ada Hayden to support their GoFundMe site donations and in the process, raised more than $14,000. The grants, GoFundMe donations, other donations, the raffle of a donated wood canoe and a generous donation from the Friends of Ada Hayden will go towards meeting the City of Ames challenge to raise $35,000 for this project which is now complete.
Thanks for your support on behalf of the Outdoor Alliance, Access Ada Hayden, Skunk River Paddlers, Friends of Ada Hayden, and others who are making this project possible. The construction for the new access is expected to be completed in 2022.
